Critical Period Hypothesis

Principal Exponent

Lennerberg suggested a new idea called the critical period hypothesis. This idea tells us that even though the acquisition of language is innate, if there are not any stimuli it wouldn't be possible to develop. Environment is essential for this process, that´s why native American people accent is unique, they listen English since they born this is the reason why  the acquisition of this language is going to be fluent and well developed process.
